Il 156° Gruppo Autonomo Caccia Terrestre è stato costituito il 20 Gennaio del 1941 sulla base di Comiso in provincia di Ragusa, e venne inquadrato nel 23° Nucleo Caccia Terrestre. Il Gruppo ricevette dei velivoli CR 42 e con questi velivoli partecipò nel Mediterraneo centrale ad azioni di scorta agli aerosiluranti e di interdizione aerea, nell’aprile dello stesso anno venne sciolto.
Il primo di febbraio del 1953 il Gruppo viene ricostituito sulla base aerea di Ghedi (Brescia) in seno alla 6ª Aerobrigata, suddiviso in due squadriglie la 381ª e la 382ª, il Gruppo era dotato di velivoli F 84F, condusse la propria attività operativa ed addestrativa sulla base di Ghedi fino al 1 Giugno 1966 quando fu trasferito nella nuova sede di Gioia del Colle presso Bari, il 156° Gruppo è chiamato in questa nuova fase a formare il neo costituito 36° Stormo Caccia, operazione che avviene insieme al 12° Gruppo Caccia. Dopo quattro anni dall’arrivo a Gioia del Colle il Gruppo viene dotato di nuovi velivoli F 104S Starfighter, con i quali per oltre una decade svolge le missioni di difesa dello spazio aereo e di interdizione al suolo.
Il 18 giugno del 1984 con l’arrivo da Ghedi dei primi cinque Tornado IDS il “vecchio” Starfighter viene sostituito dal nuovo Caccia Bombardiere e grazie alle caratteristiche specifiche del nuovo velivolo si consolidano i ruoli di CBOC (Caccia Bombardiere Ognitempo Convenzionale) e nel ruolo TASMO (Tactical Air Support for Maritime Operations), specialmente nel ruolo di supporto alle operazioni navali il 156° Gruppo acquista una peculiarità propria, i Tornado del 156° per operare nella missione antinave hanno utilizzato il missile Kormoran fino alla sua radiazione dall’arsenale dell’Aeronautica Militare e mantengono comunque questa specialità utilizzando armi Stand-Off (armi impiegate a distanza dall’obbiettivo). |

Comandante
Il Tenete Colonello Pilota Federico Fedele è nato a Vittorio Veneto (Treviso) il 16 gennaio 1969.
Laureato in Scienze Aeronautiche presso l’Università di Napoli, è insignito delle Medaglie di Anzianità di Servizio e di Lunga Navigazione, delle Medaglie NATO per le operazioni in ex Jugoslavia e Kosovo, della Croce commemorativa per la missione militare di pace in Bosnia e del Distintivo per il personale degli equipaggi di volo che ha partecipato ad azioni belliche specialità caccia.
L’ingresso in Aeronautica Militare avviene nel 1989 frequentando il Corso Leone IV dell’Accademia Aeronautica, nel 1994 ottiene il brevetto di Pilota Militare presso la scuola ENJPT (Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training) a Sheppard (Texas) negli Stati Uniti.
Nel 1995 dopo aver frequentato il corso pre-operativo sul velivolo G 91T ad Amendola e successivamente il corso di conversione sul Tornado presso la scuola Tri-Nazionale TTTE (Tri-national Tornado Training Establishement) di Cottesmore in Inghilterra viene assegnato al 156° Gruppo del 36° Stormo di Gioia del Colle (Bari), presso il 36° Stormo consegue la Combat Ready nel ruolo Caccia Bombardiere. Nell'ambito del 156° Gruppo ha comandato la 382ª Squadriglia e ha ricoperto gli incarichi di Capo Nucleo Addestramento, Capo Nucleo Operazioni e di Capo Sezione Operazioni, partecipando alle Operazioni Deny Flight e Allied Force.
Nel dicembre del 1998 frequenta il 266° CTI (Corso Istruttori) su velivolo Tornado, successivamente frequenta il Corso Normale presso la Scuola di Guerra Aerea di Firenze nell'anno accademico 2000.
Nel dicembre del 2005 frequenta il 41° Corso Sicurezza Volo e nel maggio 2007 il 6° Corso Comando presso l’ISSMA di Firenze.
Il 30 luglio 2007 diventa Comandante del 156° Gruppo ancora in quel di Gioia del Colle e ha l’onore nel luglio del 2008 di “portare” il “suo” Gruppo di Volo alle dipendenze del 6° Stormo a Ghedi.
L’8 di febbraio del 2009 subentra al Comandante De Angelis (154° Gruppo) al comando della Task Group Devil (Gruppo di Tornado rischierato in Afghanistan).
Il Tenente Colonello Fedele ha totalizzato oltre 2.900 ore di volo complessive di cui 2.500 su velivolo Tornado. |

Molte sono le operazioni condotte dagli uomini del 156° tra cui elenchiamo le più importanti, tra il 1990 e il 1991 partecipano al conflitto nel Golfo Persico nell’ambito dell’Operazione Locusta contribuendo alla liberazione del Kuwait. Tre anni più tardi i Tornado delle Linci partecipano attivamente alle operazioni NATO in ex Jugoslavia “Sharp Guard”, “Deliberate Guard” e “Deliberate Force”. In epoca recente (1999) i Tornado di Gioia del Colle hanno partecipato all’operazione “Allied Force”, sempre della NATO, con missioni di bombardamento in Serbia e Kosovo per ricondurre al tavolo delle trattative la delegazione serba capeggiata da Slobodan Milošević.
Oltre alle missioni di guerra gli uomini e mezzi del 156° Gruppo sono stati quotidianamente impegnati in una intensa attività addestrativa che li ha visti operare fianco a fianco degli altri reparti di volo italiani dell’Aeronautica Militare, della Marina e dell’Esercito, ed inoltre anche forze aeree straniere nell’ambito di esercitazioni ed operazioni reali multiforme ed internazionali.
Proprio in ambito internazionale numerose sono le esercitazioni a cui “Le Linci” hanno partecipato con cadenza regolare, tra le tante basta citare quelle appena concluse: TLP (Tactical Leadership Programme), Anatolian Eagle (Turchia), Autumn Flag (Romania) e Spring Flag in Sardegna.
Oggi il 156° Gruppo è anche parte integrante della NRF (NATO Response Force), una forza tecnologicamente avanzata, flessibile, interoperabile e sostenibile che include forze di terra, mare ed aria.
Il presente inizia il 1° luglio del 2008 quando il 156° Gruppo dopo una parentesi lunga 42 anni torna a Ghedi sotto le ali del 6° Stormo per ricominciare il discorso interrotto nel 1966. In questi sei mesi dall’arrivo a Ghedi il Reparto di volo a terminato il dispiegamento sulla nuova base, e nonostante qualche problema logistico l’attività di volo non ha avuto alcuna flessione, questo a valso la capacità del Gruppo di acquisire oltre al ruolo di “strike” la capacità “recce” di ricognizione aerea.
Negli ultimi 20 anni i Tornado IDS del 156° Gruppo hanno effettuato oltre 60.000 ore di volo in attività addestrative e operative. |

156° Gruppo Le Linci (156° Squadron The Lynx)
The 156° Gruppo Autonomo Caccia Terrestre (156° Autonomous Squadron Fighter Land) was formed on January 20, 1941 on the base of Comiso in the province of Ragusa, and was framed in the 23° Nucleo Caccia Terrestre (23° Nucleus Fighter Land). On June 18, 1984 with the arrival from Ghedi of the first five Tornado IDS the "old" Starfighter is replaced by the new Bomber Fighter and thanks to the specific characteristics of the new aircraft the roles of Caccia Bombardiere Ognitempo Convenzionale (CBOC or Fighter Bomber All Weather Conventional) are consolidated and in the role TASMO (Tactical Air Support for Maritime Operations), especially in the role of support to the naval operations 156° Gruppo purchases a peculiarity own, The Tornado of 156° to operate in the anti-ship mission used the Kormoran missile until its decommisioning from the Aeronautica Militare arsenal and still retain this specialty using Stand Off weapons (weapons employed at a distance from the target).
Many are the operations conducted by the men of 156° among which we list the most important, between 1990 and 1991 participate in the conflict in the Persian Gulf as part of Operation Locust contributing to the liberation of Kuwait. Three years later the Tornado of "Le Linci" actively participate in NATO operations in former Yugoslavia "Sharp Guard", "Deliberate Guard" and "Deliberate Force". In the international arena there are numerous exercises in which "Le Linci" have participated regularly, among the many just to mention those just concluded: TLP (Tactical Leadership Programme), Anatolian Eagle (Turkey), Autumn Flag (Romania) and Spring Flag in Sardinia.
Today the 156° Gruppo is also an integral part of the NRF (NATO Response Force), a technologically advanced, flexible, interoperable and sustainable force that includes land, sea and air forces.
The present begins on July 1, 2008 when the 156° Gruppo after a 42-year-long parenthesis returns to Ghedi under the wings of the 6° Stormo to restart the speech interrupted in 1966. Lieutenant Colonel Pilot Federico Fedele was born in Vittorio Veneto (Treviso) on January 16, 1969.
Graduated in Aeronautical Sciences at the University of Naples, is awarded the Medals of Service and Long Navigation, the NATO Medals for operations in former Yugoslavia and Kosovo, the Commemorative Cross for the Military Peacekeeping Mission in Bosnia and the Badge for Flight Crew Personnel who participated in special fighter warfare actions.
He entered the Aeronautica Militare in 1989 attending the Leone IV Course of the Accademia Aeronautica (Air Academy), in 1994 he obtained a Brevetto di Pilota Militare (Military Pilot’s License) at the ENJJPT (Euro NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training) school in Sheppard (Texas) in the United States.

On February 8, 2009, he succeeded Commander De Angelis (154° Gruppo) in command of the Devil Task Group (Tornado Squadron deployed in Afghanistan).
Lieutenant Colonel Fedele has logged over 2,900 hours of flight of which 2,500 on Tornado aircraft.
