Dopo l’edizione del 2020 cancellata per la pandemia, e quelle del 2017 e 2018, come conseguenza del tentativo di colpo di stato del 15 luglio del 2016, l’Anatolian Eagle 2021 si è svolta invece regolarmente dal 21 giugno al 2 luglio, giungendo così alla diciottesima edizione.
Le novità di questa edizione sono state sicuramente la presenze di velivoli della Forza Aerea dell’Azerbajian, prima volta all’Anatolian Eagle ma non a Konya, l’ultima presenza di velivoli azeri documentata è stata durante l’esercitazione TurAZ Falcon del 2015.
Prima volta anche per i nuovi Rafale EQ/DQ della Qatar Emiri Air Force, in alcune edizioni passate la Forza Aerea dell’Emirato era stata presente con i Mirage 2000.
In occasione dell’esercitazione si è appresa la notizia che la Forza Aerea dell’Emiro posizionerà a Konya un aliquota di circa 30-35 velivoli per scopi addestrativi, per un periodo di cinque anni dalla ratificazione dell’accordo e soprattutto dal completamento dei lavori in atto sulla base aerea per ospitare gli aeromobili ed il personale.
L’edizione AE 2021 è stata anche la prima volta per gli F 16 del 132 Filo nella veste “evidenziata” di “Aggressor”, riconoscibili da vistose bande arancioni poste sulla deriva e sugli stabilizzatori mobili del piano di coda.
Oltre all’Azerbajian e al Qatar erano presenti anche i pakistani con i loro JF-17 Thunder, seconda volta per loro a Konya dopo la partecipazione del 2019.
Edizione dell’AE 2021 caratterizzata anche da condizioni meteorologiche veramente estreme, che hanno creato diversi problemi ai fotografi arrivati in Anatolia per lo Spotter Day del 29 giugno e per il Media Day del 30 giugno.
L’esercitazione ha visto anche la partecipazione di osservatori da ogni angolo del mondo: Bangladesh, Bielorussia, Burkina Faso, Georgia, Iraq, Kosovo, Libano, Ungheria, Malaysia, Nigeria, Romania, Tunisia, Ucraina, Oman, Giordania e Giappone.
Durante l’evento la NATO ha svolto una valutazione delle capacità di combattimento ed interoperabilità per sei velivoli F 16, un KC 135R e sei batterie di difesa aerea Stinger da inserire nella NATO Response Force (NRF).

After the 2020 edition was cancelled for the pandemic, and 2017 and 2018, as a result of the attempted coup d'état of 15 July 2016, the Anatolian Eagle 2021 was held regularly from 21 June to 2 July, thus reaching the eighteenth edition.
The novelties of this edition were certainly the presence of aircraft of the Azerbaijani Air Force, first at the Anatolian Eagle but not at Konya, the last presence of Azerbaijani aircraft documented was during the Turaz Falcon exercise of 2015.
First time also for the new Rafale EQ/DQ of the Qatar Emiri Air Force, in some past editions the Air Force of the Emirate had been present with the Mirage 2000.
On the occasion of the exercise it was learned that the Qatar Emiri Air Force will place in Konya a rate of about 30-35 aircraft for training purposes, for a period of five years after the ratification of the Agreement and in particular the completion of work on the air base to accommodate aircraft and personnel.
The AE 2021 edition was also the first time for the F 16 of the 132 Filo in the "highlighted" appearance of "Aggressor", recognizable by showy orange bands placed on the tail and on the mobile stabilizers.
In addition to Azerbaijan and Qatar, the Pakistanis were also present with their JF-17 Thunder, second time for them in Konya after the participation of 2019.
