L'ILA 2008 ha avuto luogo dal 27 maggio al 1° giugno in Germania sull'aeroporto di Berlino-Schönefeld, aeroporto che assumerà la futura denominazione di Berlin Brandenburg International Airport.
La mostra internazionale dell'aeronautica e dello spazio di Berlino (in tedesco Internationale Luft-und Raumfahrtausstellung), è una importante manifestazione internazionale di presentazione di materiali aeronautici e spaziali. Questo salone aeronautico viene organizzato ogni due anni. Ricorre negli anni pari e precede di pochi giorni la Mostra internazionale di Farnborough.
Il salone di Berlino è organizzato dall'ente che riunisce le industrie tedesche del settore (Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie e.V. - BDLI) e dalla Messe Berlin GmbH. lo scopo di questa mostra è presentare a potenziali acquirenti una serie di prodotti aeronautici militari e civili.
La prima edizione della mostra si tenne a Francoforte nel 1909, ed è per questa ragione che la manifestazione si vanta di essere stata la prima della storia al mondo. Dopo il primo ILA, seguendo l'idea del costruttore aeronautico August Euler, nell'aprile del 1910 molti club aeronautici si unirono per formare l'Associazione dei piloti tedeschi. Subito dopo, venne fondata a Francoforte l'Associazione dei costruttori aeronautici tedeschi che stabilì forti legami con l'ILA e si trasformò nella BDLI che tuttora organizza l'evento. Nel periodo antecedente alla Prima Guerra Mondiale l'ILA si tenne a Berlino nel 1912 e più tardi nel 1928.
Dopo la fine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, nel 1955 si iniziò a organizzare una "Mostra internazionale del viaggio aereo" che poi si tenne nel 1957 presso l'aeroporto di Hannover-Langenhagen come parte della fiera campionaria di Hannover. Dopo quella data, l'evento venne organizzato per i successivi trenta anni, inizialmente con il nome di "Mostra dell'aviazione tedesca". L'esposizione venne progressivamente aperta a espositori dall'estero e nel 1978 riprese la denominazione con tre lettere, ILA, utilizzata nel 1909. Dal 1992, dopo la caduta del muro di Berlino, venne deciso di riportare il salone al suo luogo di nascita.
il Salone Internazionale Aerospaziale ha fornito un impressionante visualizzazione di questo settore high-tech ed è stato anche una grande attrazione per il pubblico. La partecipazione di 241.000, ha quasi raggiunto il livello record fissato dall’edizione ILA 2006 (250.000). Circa 120.000 visitatori (nel 2006 erano stati 115.000) sono venuti a scoprire i prodotti e servizi offerti sui 250.000 metri quadrati espositivi del salone.
Durante il salone sono stati stipulati contratti tra le imprese per un valore di più di cinque miliardi di Euro e tutti sono stati ultimati nel corso della manifestazione, tra di essi è stato sottoscritto il più grande ordine per aeromobili dall’inizio del salone da sempre, contratto che è stato emesso a favore del consorzio Airbus da parte della compagnia Gulf Air (Bahrain) per 35 aeromobili per un valore di 3,2 miliardi di Euro. L’India in qualità di paese partner, qui a Berlino a fatto la sua maggior apparizione nel contesto aerospaziale al di fuori dei propri confini nazionali per presentare le sue grandi potenzialità. |

The ILA 2008 took place from May 27 to June 1 in Germany on the Berlin-Schönefeld Airport, Airport which will take the future designation of Berlin Brandenburg International Airport.
